Job title: Human Rights Officer- Legal

Main Purpose of the Job:
Main Purpose of the Job:
The HRO will be responsible to the Regional Human Rights Officer for effective and efficient implementation of activities of human rights protection and promotion in the region through the legal function.

Qualifications:
Must hold a Bachelors Degree in law from a recognizable Institution, Post graduate diploma in legal practice is a must, Must be enrolled as an advocate of the High Court of Uganda, Must be proficient in computer operations especially MS office
Should have been involved with human rights work for at least six months

Duties and responsibilities:
(a) Writing legal opinions on investigated complaints;
(b) Drafting correspondences including caution letters;
(c) Litigating complaints before the Commission
(d) Tribunal as Commission counsel;
(e) Mediating complaints;
(f) Giving legal advice to complainants;
(g) Compiling progress reports;
(h) Conducting legal and human rights research;
(I) Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor
