Job Title: Geographical Information Systems Officer (1 Position)

Uganda Land Alliance is a consortium of National and International NGOs and individuals focusing on advocacy on Land and Land Rights promotion and protecting the interests of the poor, vulnerable and marginalized groups of people and individuals with its secretariat in Kampala. The Uganda Land Alliance is protecting peoples Land Rights through, Enhancing civic participation in land governance and resource management in Karamoja region


Reports to: Programme Officer

Duty Station: Napak

Duties and Responsibilities



§ Conduct mapping of the land in the communities

§ Carry out land survey following the set guidelines and procedures

§ Liaise with the relevant government departments like Land Boards on issues regarding Land Titles

§ Produce GIS maps

§ Sensitize the communities on community mapping

§ Harness the council of Elders towards a common title for pastoralist lands

§ Prepare activity reports on a monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual reports



Education and Experience

A minimum of a Diploma in Physical Planning, Urban Planning, Land Economics or surveying is required. Knowledge on the Nkaramojong Language will be an added advantage. At least 1-2 years of working experience in Community Mapping, physical planning and knowledge of using GIS, GPRS technology
