Job Title: Accountant

National Animal Genetics Resources Centre and Data Bank, (NAGRC&DB) a body corporate under the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries its mandate is to take a leading role in establishing a comprehensive National Animal Breeding Programme in Uganda
Reports to: The Administration and Finance Manager

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all accounting function of NAGRC & DB (i.e. at headquarters and NAGRC Stations)
• Preparation of Monthly And Annual Financial Statements e.g. Balance Sheets, Income Statements and Cash Flow for NAGRC & DB as directed by the Administration and Finance Manager
• Supervision of Accounts assistants at the headquarters and provision of technical assistance to accounts assistants at the stations
• Dealing with the tax related functions of NAGRC & DB.
• Participate in the Budgeting process of NAGRC & DB
• Recommending to the administration finance manager any internal control measures that he/she deems are necessary
• Advice the administration and finance manager on the management accounting function
• Any other activities as assigned by the administration and Finance Manger


Job requirement

Qualifications /Work Experience:
The Accountant for NAGRC & DB will have the following:
• Graduate qualification majoring in Accounting
• A Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
• Association of Chartered Accountants (ACCA) at third level qualification
• Not less than 5 years' experience working with a recognized firm.
• He/She should have a minimum of 30 years.

Other requirements:
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Proficient computer skills especially Microsoft Office programmes especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work productively under pressure and cope with all the deadlines
Work Station:
He/She will be stationed at NAGRC & DB headquarters
