FINCA Uganda is currently looking for candidates to fill the following position:

AGRICULTURAL PRODUCT SPECIALIST

Role definition:

Reporting to the CEO, the job role is to facilitate the development and roll out of Agricultural Products in FINCA Uganda.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop an agricultural lending product that is profitable and can be practically offered within the business model/framework that FINCA Uganda uses.
Develop a critical appraisal format and selection criteria for producers/producer groups and small businesses that need financial services including loans and deposits in selected FINCA Uganda branches.
Develop training modules for staff tailored to small scale agricultural production and agribusiness.
Select, interview, and train FINCA Uganda staff in value chain analysis and intervention, customized to small holder production and small-scale agricultural business.
Create strong working relationships between FINCA Uganda and large agricultural processors and small scale producers throughout the country.
Provide overall supervision and administration for the project.

Qualification and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in agronomy, animal science or agricultural economics or equivalent. Master of Science or MBA is a plus but not required.
Minimum of 5 years progressive direct experience in large agricultural/farming environment. Preferred person from a large scale farming operations who knows the science and business end of farming, is preferred.
Minimum of 1 year international experience preferred. Experience as a former agricultural extension agent or experience with USAID or Peace Corps or international equivalent work with small scale producers and linkages with large scale processors is highly preferred.
Proven track record of successfully identifying, developing and implementing agricultural businesses.
Knowledge or previous experience in a lending institution preferred, but not required.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with senior level executives,
Self-starter with high energy to learn quickly and meet the needs of the assignment,
Collaborative and flexible
Mature management and presentation skills, demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills,
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the country as the position requires 50% of travel.
