Job Description (Duties):

Our client British-American is a leading financial services organization with global presence in Kenya, Mauritius, London and Malta. Their vision is to be the most trusted financial services company as they seek to offer superior insurance and asset management services to individuals, business corporations and non-governmental organizations. As part of their growth strategy, the company will be diversifying its Insurance operation to the Ugandan market.

Nature and Scope

Business Development Manager will be responsible for ensuring appropriate marketing & sales strategies on to attract the target market. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for the sales function in the organization.
Responsibilities:

Establishment and consolidation of substantial market share consistent with company plans and objectives.
Conceptualize, structure and execute initiatives to develop the business in new markets, including product development;
Cultivation and establishment of excellent relations with banks and financial institutions that will prospectively be a conduit of the business.
Develop and maintain excellent relations with brokers and other intermediaries.
Deliver on agreed sales targets and maintain the company’s market share.
Ensure provision of superior customer service.
Effectively manage the sales function and ensure operational efficiency.
Develop appropriate sales techniques and distribution to efficiently attain these objectives.
Initiate new product recommendations for market research and development based on sales and customer interactions.
Marketing research and intelligence.
The identification and development of new distribution outlets.
Assist in premium collection and renewal of business.
Prepare and implement sales strategic plans.
Provide appropriate inputs on pricing of products.
Ensure department operates as profit centre.
Provide leadership to the team by coaching, mentoring and supervising the staff;
Performs any other duties as required.


Necessary Qualifications:

Bachelor of Commerce degree marketing option or equivalent;
A Masters Degree will be an added advantage;
Professional certification in insurance e.g. CII or FLMI;
At least 7 years experience in related field;
Experience in managing a team in achieving and exceeding stated objectives;
Computer Literacy in Ms Office Suite of packages.

Accurate market research report to better understand the customer base.
