Job Title: MANAGER LEGAL SERVICES (Position: 1)
Position Reports to: Company Secretary
Department: Company Secretariat

JOB PURPOSE:

Support the Company Secretary to manage the legal affairs of the company. He/she will be expected to adequately defend the company, and maintain a vibrant legal/secretarial image.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

• Draft leases/licenses, tenancy agreements, and other legal documents.
• Provide legal advice on civil disputes and advise courts on criminal cases.
• Guide external advocates on management of court cases.
• Represent the company in courts of law.
• Act as Company Secretary in absence of the incumbent.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPITENCIES:


• Bachelor of Laws Degree (Honours).
• Diploma in Legal Practice of Uganda
• Enrolled advocate of the high court.
• Valid practicing certificate.
• Possession of professional secretarial qualification (ICSA) will be an added advantage.
• Five (05) years relevant working experience in company secretarial work, litigation or conveying.

Other specifications:

• Demonstrable proficiency in drafting and minute taking.
• Good knowledge of basic computer applications, especially MS Office packages.
• Good communication, organization and public relations skills.
• Ability to manage confidential information.
