Position: CARE AND TREATMENT SPECIALIST
Duty station: West Nile
Reports to: The Project Coordinator

Role definition: This position serves as the HIV Care and treatment medical Team lead. S/he will have oversight of all care and treatment activities, including treatment scale up, ARV or opportunistic infection, medicine supply chain and procurement systems, working towards greater program efficiencies in HIV care and treatment and institutional capacity building and health systems related to HIV care and treatment activities. S/he will work with National HIV/ care and treatment partners while supervising the TB/HIV Coordinator, Nutrition Coordinator, HCT Coordinator,OVC Coordinator and Medical Logistics Officer. S/he will align up to date comprehensive HIV/AIDS Care and treatment SOPs to West Nile district Clinical service programs and makes critical decisions with regard to patient management such as treatment plans for difficult cases; consultations and referrals to various subspecialities in line with the mission of Directorate of Medical and Psychosocial programs.

Key Result Areas
1. Support the development of HIV care and treatment services in the districts and ensure that they are implemented according to National treatment guide lines and the global health initiative.

3. Develop and monitor the implementation of the capacity building plan for HIV/AIDS care and treatment management (in terms of training, mentorship and coaching) in line with the MOH guidelines and Baylor Uganda capacity building guidelines
4. Plan, direct, and participate in districts and health facilities integration and implementation of TB/HIV, Nutrition, HCT, and OVC activities.
5. Build and maintain networks and communication between stakeholders, MOH, districts and other government agencies.
6. Develop, appraise, support and maintain a competent and motivated team through offering consultation and giving constructive feedback, coaching and mentoring, in accordance with the human resources manual and MOH guidelines,
7. Provide technical assistance to districts in planning as well as strategic issues of project management, information services, laboratory, supply chain management and human resources services.
8. Ensure timely reporting about care and treatment activities and share information among stake holders,

Qualifications and job specifications
The successful applicant should have;
1. A Master's degree in Paediatrics or Internal Medicine.
2. 5 years of experience in managing medical programmes,
3. Possess interpersonal and communication skills
4. Be self-motivated with high integrity
5. Have 30- 45 years of age.
6. Registration with the Uganda Medical Council is required
