Qualifications:

• A good post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage

Experience; 7 years relevant working experience, 3 of which should be at a senior supervisory level

Knowledge and Skills:
• A membership of Uganda Institute of Professional Engineers, registered with the engineers’ registration Board ( this applies to only those with Engineering qualifications)

Background

The Finance Associate reports to the UN Women Representative for guidance and supervision and is responsible for managing and supervising the execution of a wide range of financial services and administrative processes in Country Programme Office (CPO), ensuring timeliness, efficiency and transparent use of financial resources and delivery of services in accordance with organizational financial rules, regulations, policies, procedures and approved allocations. Duties and Responsibilities
Administration and implementation of program and operational financial services:

* Review and verify financial transactions/activities/documentation for accuracy, appropriateness and completeness and ensure full compliance of financial services and transactions with UN Women rules, regulations, policies and recording and reporting systems. Certify transactions for accuracy and propriety prior to submission to the supervisor for approval and/or action.

* Input data in Atlas for new grants in the form of Annual Work Plans (AWPs) and monitor status. Keep stakeholders and clients informed for timely action and/or decisions.
* Contribute to office budget planning and preparation by presenting thoroughly researched information for planning of financial resources of the CPO, including reports containing an analysis of the office’s financial situation (expenditures versus budget allocations).
* Provide information/guidance to the executing agencies on routine implementation of projects. Keep track of the appropriate and timely use of financial resources.
* Verify accuracy of Combined/Programme Delivery Reports and One UN Financial Reports as applicable. Take appropriate action to ensure accuracy of information.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Incumbent serves as the manager of the ICASS Customer Service Center (ICSC) and ensures that management sub-sections meet standards in the delivery of ICASS services to customers. The ICSC is US Mission Uganda's "one-stop shop" at the Chancery location for all ICASS Services, in particular General Services (GSO). Incumbent reports to the Supervisory General Services Officer and is reviewed by the Management Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

1. Education required: Completion of two years of post secondary education/university studies is required.
2. Work Experience required: Two years general office experience in customer-focused work environment is required.
3. Language required: Level IV English speaking and writing ability is required.

4. Knowledge required: General administrative and office procedures. Knowledge of the operation of ICASS, management practices and a general understanding of USG organizational structure, including the ability to appreciate political nuances and cultural sensitivities.
5. Skills and Abilities: Excellent drafting skills (English), strong interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills required. Must demonstrate expertise in customer-focused management, including sound judgment and creative problem-solving in addressing issues varying in volume, scope, and complexity. Ability to remain tactful and professional at all times. Must be able to adapt to changing circumstances and be able to juggle dozens of different, often time-sensitive tasks in a variety of specialized areas. Level 1 Typing. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) required.

SELECTION PROCESS

After an initial application screening, applicants will be invited to a testing process that may include a written examination and oral interviews. The selected candidate must pass pre-employment medical and security investigations before beginning work. The initial appointment period is one year, subject to renewal.

Normally, candidates for employment are hired at the first step of the designated pay grade. In some instances, candidates may be hired at a higher step when exceptional qualifications or previous governmental service and pay level so warrant. The Human Resources Officer will make the decision with the concurrence of the employing section.

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education Required: A Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to development assistance, such as public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, development studies, public or business administration, statistics, sociology, or a closely related field, is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Work Experience: A minimum of seven years experience related to monitoring, evaluation and reporting of HIV/AIDS is required for holders of a Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of four years’ experience is required for those with a Master’s degree. Experience with managing for results activities such as leading teams that include senior staff at the level of Team Leaders to develop results frameworks, developing performance indicators, developing performance management plans, conducting baseline and evaluation studies and reporting results is required. Experience conceptualizing and managing research, data analysis and disseminating research findings is required. Prior work with U.S. Government or other donor-funded projects is an added advantage.
3. Language Requirement: Must be fluent in English language.
4. Knowledge: Working knowledge of technical and programmatic aspects of HIV/AIDS and PEPFAR reporting is required.

5. Skills and Abilities: Must possess strong interpersonal skills and team-building skills. Computer literacy in word processing using Microsoft and spreadsheets is required.

Operations Geologist Job Vacancy at Tullow Uganda

Job Title: Operations Geologist/ Well Site Geologist
Reports to: Petroleum Engineering Manager Uganda

Job Purpose:
To ensure effective coordination of Tullow’s surface geology operations

Main Accountabilities:
• To Coordinate operation activities that include mud logging, wire line logging , sampling, logistics, reporting, communication updates and interfacing with contractors providing these services
• To ensure high quality geological (including logging and coring) data is acquired to support field development planning
• To coordinate data transfer requirements to government agencies

Qualifications:
Minimum of a university Degree in a relevant Engineering or similar discipline

Experience:
• Minimum of 10 years’ Operations Geology experience
• Demonstrable project responsibility associated with projects of $ 250 million out turn cost
• Working experience in remote locations with wells of various depths
• Planning and organizing skills
