Job Title: SENIOR DOCUMENTATION OFFICER
(REF: EAC/HR/2012/009)

Reports to: Principal Librarian
Main Purpose of the Job:
To acquire, process, manage and disseminate information to users including Partner States and
Stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Participate in the selection, ordering and acquisition of relevant information resources
and collection development.
2. Process all information received including cataloguing, classifying, indexing and
abstracting using international standards to facilitate reference in line with agreed
policies and procedures.

3. Develop information services, such as selective dissemination of information, current
awareness services, compile Bibliographies and produce weekly information bulletins.
4. Scan periodicals, newspaper articles and package the information.
5. Compile compendiums of EAC Documentation.
6. Undertake user information needs surveys and develop user profiles.
7. Provide reference services, user training and guidance.
8. Assist with the design, development and up-dating of databases.
9. Responsible for the day to day administration of the Library and Documentation Centre.
10. Prepare progress and annual reports; and
11. Promote a positive corporate culture and image of the EAC.
Qualifications and Experience:
Masters Degree, in Library Science, Records Management or related field. 8 years of experience
in managing big libraries or Record Centres with 3 years at senior level.
Skills and Competencies:
Analytical skills, processing and dissemination of information skills, communication skills,
computer skills, public relations skills, publishing skills, research skills.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
This post is tenable on a five (5) year contract term renewable upon satisfactory performance.
This position is subject to the application of the Quota System.
