Job Title: SENIOR LIBRARIAN

Reports to: Principal Librarian
Main Purpose of the Job:
To develop and manage Library Services for timely information for the Community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Implement Library policies and procedures for selection, acquisition, dissemination and
preservation of information material.
2. Plan the acquisition organisation, maintenance, utilization and requisition of materials
and equipment for the EAC Library.

3. Advise on legal aspects of information, provision such as copy-write and data
protection.
4. Develop and implement Library Rules, Regulations, manuals and user guides.
5. Disseminate the decisions of the Summit and Council.
6. Develop EAC information strategy and Library Databases.
7. Maintain a working knowledge of specialized information resource and its acquisition.
8. Develop and implement an appropriate document lending system including loan and
exchange of materials as required.
9. Coordinate and supervise the printing and publishing of periodicals and books and
reports for EAC.
10. Keep custody of the property, documents and materials in the Library.
11. Research, acquire, assemble, catalogue, restore exhibits, maintain and store items of
historical/archival importance to the development of the EAC; and
12. Promote a positive corporate culture and image of the EAC.
Qualifications and Experience:
A Masters degree in Library, Information Science or a related field.
8 years of experience in Library administration and management, with 3 at senior level.
Skills and Competencies:
Analytical skills, communication skills, computer skills, information processing, supervisory,
customer care, research skills, networking skills, resource mobilisation skills, project proposal
writing skills and team building.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
This post is tenable on a five (5) year contract term renewable upon satisfactory performance.
This position is subject to the application of the Quota System.
