Our client is a leading Telecommunication Company in Uganda and is seeking to recruit result driven and motivated individuals for the vacancies below:
Job Objective:
The person will be expected to manage the company’s revenue diversification strategy, managing the various business stream ‘verticals’ across the organization. The person will be expected to oversee the completion of a re-structuring of the organization to this effect
Duties and Responsibilities:
The job will therefore entail three broad roles:
1. Management of Simba’s core business – Retail & Distribution
The position will be responsible for the revenue and P&L of the business by the cost effective management of STU’s sales channels to market:
* Modify and develop that overall Sales & Distribution strategy in conjunction with the Board.
* Develop and control the annual business plan including annual / quarterly / monthly sales plan + targets
* Assess market potential in the territories and implement appropriately sized sales structures and distribution systems to optimally service the territories
* Ensure profitability is maintained on all routes to market
* Supervise and Lead the regional Retail, Sales & Distribution management teams
* Ensure the implementation of trade marketing activities in both the trade and retail environments
* Manage & grow relationships with STU’s trade and distribution partners including direct sales teams
* Develop specific strategies for certain product lines / territories / sales period to drive sales
* Develop and manage handset growth strategy – retail and wholesale
* Develop new, more efficient routes to market making greater use of technology and payment platforms
1. General Management role
STU is head quartered in Kampala with its retail and distribution operations spread geographically. The company’s support functions are situated in Kampala. The mobile
* Full management control of the business assuming operational control for the STU operation. This will include full P&L responsibility.
* Build a cohesive management team including key support functions – Finance, Administration, HR and IT
* Management of costs and increasing operational efficiencies across the business.
* Ensure necessary controls on cash and stock are in place so that budgeted cash flows and targets are met
* Ensure all necessary processes and procedures to manage the business are formalized and put in practice across the organisation
* Creating positive working relationships with senior and middle management level within MTN, our handset suppliers and trade partners (eg. Zuku TV), acting as a liason between them and the Board.
1. Business Development
The GM will be required to drive the growth of company revenue diversification objective by leveraging its existing retail and distribution network and capabilities.
* Oversee the expansion of recently introduced business lines (Mobile Money, Zuku TV agent and money transfer services).
* Identify new market and product / service opportunities to be introduced into the STU business.
* Oversee high level technical and product development for new services / products to be introduced.
* Ensure operational and marketing support is provided for new products / services and their eventual integration into the core STU business.
Qualifications
* A strong entrepreneurial disposition with a high level of commercial astuteness.
* This is a primarily a Sales / Commercial position that requires an experienced person with minimum 5 years general management experience in the retail and distribution preferably in the mobile or FMCG industry.
* The candidate will require a broad range of competencies in the areas of direct and indirect sales, distribution, retail and business development.
* University graduate in any discipline, preferably in marketing or business studies. A very numbers-driven, result-oriented approach is essential.
* Problem-solving and decision-making skills plus the ability to think laterally whilst offering creative solutions.
* Flexibility and the ability to manage change.
* Strong interpersonal skills - an extrovert personality with a genuine affinity to interact with higher levels of management and different cultures.
* Negotiation skills
* Positive attitude to continual learning.
