The Church of the Province of Uganda (Church of Uganda) is a member of the 'Worldwide Anglican Communion. The Church is currently seeking-suitable persons to fill in the positions listed below:
Job Title: Internal Auditor
Reports to: Provincial Internal Auditor
Responsible for: Audit Assistant
Location; Provincial Secretariat. Namirembe Hill, Willis Road
Role:
To develop a comprehensive, practical program of engagement coverage for the assigned areas.
• To ensure conformance with Program Cooperation Agreements (PCAs), acceptable standards, plans, budgets and Schedules
• To maintain effective working relationships with program officers
To supervise the activities of the staff assigned to the review of various organizational and functional activities.
• To provide for conduct research and develop manuals and training guides
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate's responsibility will be to ensure that current and future financial and management systems conform to the Program Cooperation Agreements (PCAs): regulations, professional accounting requirements and procedures, carry out regular, random audits of COU cash, procurement and supply procedures, specifically he/she will:-
• Plan and implement set audit objectives with particular reference to the range of activities to be coveted and deployment of staff
• Carry out risk-based audits on key PCA processes and projects activities as per audit plan
• Analyze data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in internal controls or extent of compliance with the PCA, management procedures and policies.
• Examine the financial accounting, inventory and management information systems to determine their efficiency and protective values
• Audit income and expenditure, assess and liabilities and commitments to ensure that they are fairly stated in the financial statements and management reports.
Produce annual and quarterly, Audit Budgets for all activities and monitor performance against this budget.
• Evaluate project Appraisals, implementation and Supervision plus monitoring procedures and establish limits of application
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Provincial Internal Auditor or management from time to time
Job requirement
Qualifications and Experience:
• University graduate of Commerce of Business Administration specializing in Auditing.
• Should possess postgraduate qualifications in auditing, accounting or finance and a professional qualification such as ACCA.CIA or CPA.
• Should be a member of the institute of Internal Auditor.
•Knowledge and experience in working with Faith-Based organizations will be an added advantage and should have at least 3 years of experience in Internal Auditing.
Competencies required:
The ideal candidate should possess excellent skills in auditing and financial analysis. Good knowledge, principles and practices of internal auditing, risk management or portfolio management of NGO or Faith-Based or Public Sector Accounting is an addedadvantage, The candidate should be assertive, ethical and independent in decision making. Other skills and knowledge requirement;
• Self-motivated, able to prioritize work and follow up tasks and issues to the end
•Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills High level of Integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality Strong numeric, analytical, accounting and audit skills -
• Sound knowledge of computerized accounting
Advanced computer literacy (e.g. MS-Word Application such as; Excel, Power Point Email Software)
