URBAN DEVELOPMENT OFFICER Jobs- Uganda Government Vacancies

Applications are invited from suitably qualified University Graduates to fill the following vacant posts currently available in the various Ministries/Departments as specified below. Applications should be submitted in triplicate on Public Service Form No. 3 (2008) to the Secretary, Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 7080, Kampala to be received not later than 22nd October 2010.

The application forms are obtainable from the Public Service Commission Office, 2nd Floor, Farmers, House, Parliament Avenue, Kampala, Ministry/Department Headquarters and District Service Commission Offices. Hand written applications are also acceptable. The advertisement can also be accessed from the Public Service Commission Website on www.psc.go.ug.

Applications should bear the title of the post as well as the Reference Number specified against the vacancy. Applicants should attach three sets of certified photocopies of their academic certificates and transcripts.

Applicants should attach three (3) recent certified passport size photographs and should apply for a maximum of only two (2) posts clearly indicating the first and second choice on the application form.

Officers already appointed in the Public Service shall not be considered.

Applicants who shall not hear from the Public Service Commission, on completion of the selection exercise should consider themselves unsuccessful.

AGE: 21 YEARS AND ABOVE



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or Physical Planning or Land Use Planning or Urban Management from recognized University/Institution.



DUTIES:

The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Urban Development Officer for performing the following duties:-



· Providing technical support to the Local Governments to enhance development and implementation of the physical development plans.

· Carrying out urban development audit to assess implementation of the physical development plans of various Urban Local Governments.

· Undertaking analytical research to investigate key challenges in the urban sector and generate data to inform policy development and reviewing, planning and decision making.

· Participating in the development and review of urban development and management policies, plans and standards.

· Undertaking monitoring and evaluation of urban development and growth process in conjunction with the Local Governments staff for purposes of planning and decision making.

· Participating in mobilization of stakeholders in urban sector to effectively participate in urban development planning and management.

· Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
