Job Title: Credit and Finance Officer

Reports to: The Project Manager
Role definition: Develop and implement strategies for managing credit and finance services in line with the project objectives and approaches


Key result areas:

Develop and implement strategies for guiding and building partnerships with financial institutions and micro finance operators to finance oilseeds production and storage by farmers and to promote the development of appropriate financial products in line with the project objectives and approach.
Develop and implement a strategy to promote credit repayment discipline by those receiving credit in line with Project objectives.
Develop and implement a rural credit manual to define options for farmers to access financing for oilseed production in line with the project objectives and approaches.
Design and implement a monitoring framework for
credit and risk management in line with the project objectives
Design and implement training programmes to promote a culture of savings for project beneficiaries in line with project objectives
Prepare reports about finance and credit in line with the project reporting guidelines


Job specifications |

A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business studies, Marketing, Business Administration or other relevant field from a recognized University.
Professional qualification in microfinance will be an added advantage.
At least 5 years’ working experience in providing financing services and/or credit, with preferably 2 years’ experience in a financial institution.
Ability to demonstrate commercial awareness and willing to travel extensively in the project areas where the focus is oilseed production
Good knowledge of traded oilseed products such as cooking oil, animal feed etc will be an advantage and awareness of the commercial risks faced in this sub-sector.
Technical understanding of how donor’s funded projects operates.
A professional of high standing with strong leadership and team building skills.
Have general knowledge of project and business management with emphasis on work planning, budgeting and reporting;
Be computer literate and well versed in the use of Word, Excel and internet;
Fluent English - written and oral and demonstrate excellent report writing skills;
Advanced advocacy, communication and negotiation skills and ability to work as a team member;
Be conversant with rural poverty reduction strategies and gender equity;
A working knowledge of GOU policies, operations and reforms;
Knowledge and experience working with the private sector;
Excellent skills in working with groups to build consensus and resolving conflict.
Excellent organization skills with the ability for multi- tasking;
Excellent presentation skills; oral and written with attention to detail
